Regulatory Requirements
Biostimulants comprise of compounds, substances, and microorganisms that are neither plant protection products nor fertilisers. They are a relevant component in integrated cropping systems. Using biostimulants efficiently helps to reduce the use of pesticides and mineral fertilisers, helping to achieve the EU’s ambitious green deal goals.

The European Fertiliser Regulation (EU) No. 2019/1009 sets the requirements for placing biostimulants on the market in the EU.
In addition to EU law, national legislations are still applicable and allow for placing products on national markets (for example as “Plant strengthener” or “soil improver”).
Placing on the market as EU biostimulant product requires CE certification for wich different modules of the Regulations have to be considered.
